What NATE Certification is and Why it Matters

November 08, 2016

Teays Valley Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning in Hurricane always tells you about how our service techs are NATE-certified, and while it sounds comforting, what does it truly mean?

NATE is an abbreviation for North American Technician Excellence and, as stated on their website, is the nation’s largest certification organization for HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) and refrigeration technicians. The organization was developed by and has been supported by the entire HVAC and refrigeration industry but not all people in the industry are required to be certified by NATE. The certification is discretionary and technicians can work in the heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration industry without being NATE-certified.

It’s important to Teays Valley Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning that our team is NATE-certified to ensure we are sending the most qualified and trained technicians into your home. To make sure experts meet these benchmarks, the NATE-certification exams validate real-world working knowledge of HVACR systems for technicians. The exams are knowledge-based tests that assess the technician’s knowledge of these criteria.

Since Teays Valley Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning focuses on the HVAC side of NATE-certification and not refrigeration, there are only specific areas pertinent to our technicians. NATE exam candidates may receive installation and/or service certification in one or more of the specialty areas listed below:
