We are making our way through the last of the weeks of winter but we still need our furnaces, especially during cool nights. There’s not a lot that is worse than going to bed at night and realizing your furnace won’t start up. If this happens to you, here are a couple things you can check yourself before your call Teays Valley Service Experts.
Check Air Filters
You should replace standard air filters monthly. If you do not, they can end up clogged, blocking air flow and resulting in a furnace malfunction.
Check Your Thermostat
Start by turning the thermostat up a few degrees to get the furnace to turn on. If the true room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the heating system won’t turn on. Also, confirm the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”
Check the Power
It may seem silly, but make sure the power switch next to the furnace is “On.” Even gas heating equipment uses electricity so make sure the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch wasn’t accidently switched to the “Off” position.
If you inspect all these things and your heating system will still not kick on, give Teays Valley Service Experts a call at 304-760-5088 and we’ll come out and get you heating again as soon as possible.
