We are trudging through the last few weeks of winter but we still need our furnaces, especially during frigid nights. Nothing is worse than laying down at night and realizing your furnace won’t kick on. If this happens to you, here are some things you can check yourself before calling Service Experts Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing.
Check Air Filters
You should change standard air filters each month. If you don’t, they can end up clogged, obstructing air flow and resulting in a furnace malfunction.
Check Your Thermostat
Start by turning the thermostat up a few degrees to get the furnace to turn on. If the actual room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the furnace won’t run. Also, confirm the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”
Check the Power
It may seem obvious, but confirm the power switch next to the heating equipment is “On.” Even gas heating equipment uses electricity so verify the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch wasn’t accidently flipped to the “Off” position.
If you inspect all these things and your furnace will still not start up, give Service Experts Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing a call at 866-397-3787 and we’ll come out and take care of you as soon as possible.
