4 Signs it's Time to Replace your Boiler

March 04, 2017

Is your boiler in need of replacing? Teays Valley Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning is here with some indicators to look for when choosing whether it’s time to buy a new boiler.

Age

If your condensing boiler gets standard maintenance, you can expect it to operate about 15 years or more. Cast iron boilers can last a lot longer, even up to 50 years with proper maintenance. If your condensing boiler is close to 15 years or your cast iron boiler is coming up on 50 years, it may be time to consider an upgrade.

Bills

If your utility bills are going up or you’re having to maintain your boiler more repeatedly, it could be because it’s time to buy a new, more efficient boiler.

Discoloration

If you see yellow flames on the gas burners and black soot on oil burners it could be an indicator that the fuel is not burning correctly and could be creating carbon monoxide. If you observe these issues or have any concerns regarding carbon monoxide in your home, you should call Teays Valley Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning or your gas company straightaway.

Comfort

If some of the sections in your home are too hot or too cold and you can’t seem to control them appropriately or get them comfortable, it could be that your boiler is no longer effective and you could need to look into upgrade choices.
